October 8th, 2021 was highlighted by the Red Sox’s remarkable win over the Rays where they set MLB and franchise postseason records thanks to their dominant offensive display. Every other division series had a game on Friday as well with the Astros’ 7th inning avalanche leading to a 2-0 series lead over Chicago. Logan Webb’s outstanding postseason debut along with Buster Posey’s big night helped the Giants take a 1-0 lead over LAD and Rowdy Tellez’s GW-HR lifted Milwaukee over the Braves in Game 1.

See what happened in sports on October 8th last year, headlined by Nick Foles‘ Bears taking down Tom Brady‘s Bucs as TB12 seemingly forgot it was fourth down after the game-sealing turnover on downs and the Astros, Dodgers, and Braves all clinching a spot in the Championship Series as well as what happened in sports on October 8th, 2019 ft. the Rays running a hot Justin Verlander out of town thanks to an outstanding offensive output.

WHAT HAPPENED IN SPORTS OVERVIEW: This daily sports post includes real headlines only (no clickbait rumors), all of the best highlights, interesting facts from around the NFL, NBA, & MLB, the main games to watch, notable birthdays, and a quick recap of significant events on this day in sports history.
