Who’s Playing
Merrimack @ Virginia Tech
Current Records: Merrimack 3-2; Virginia Tech 5-0
What to Know
The Virginia Tech Hokies will take on the Merrimack Warriors at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday at Cassell Coliseum. Virginia Tech is out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
The Hokies were the big favorite in their most recent game, and for good reason. They made easy work of the St. Francis (Pa.) Red Flash on Thursday and carried off an 85-55 win. Guard Nahiem Alleyne was the offensive standout of the contest for Virginia Tech, picking up 18 points. Alleyne had some trouble finding his footing against the Radford Highlanders on Monday, so this was a step in the right direction. Alleyne’s points were the most he has had all year.
Meanwhile, Merrimack beat the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 55-45 on Friday.
Virginia Tech is now a perfect 5-0 while Merrimack sits at 3-2. Two stats to keep an eye on: The Hokies enter the matchup with only 49.5 points allowed per game on average, good for second best in college basketball. Less enviably, the Warriors are worst in college basketball in points per game, with only 55.8 on average.
