Lamar @ Texas Tech
Current Records: Lamar 1-5; Texas Tech 5-0
What to Know
The Lamar Cardinals’ road trip will continue as they head to United Supermarkets Arena at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to face off against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas Tech should still be feeling good after a victory, while the Cardinals will be looking to right the ship.
It looks like Lamar got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 79-73 to the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners.
As for the Red Raiders, they can’t say they have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. They took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 96-40 win over the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks. The margin was wide but not a surprise since the spread was 30 points in Texas Tech’s favor. They relied on the efforts of guard Terrence Shannon Jr., who had 18 points, and guard Mylik Wilson, who had eight points. Wilson hadn’t helped his team much against the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Saturday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Lamar is now 1-5 while Texas Tech sits at 5-0. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Cardinals are sixth worst in college basketball in takeaways, with only 10.3 on average. To make matters even worse for Lamar, the Red Raiders rank 11th in college basketball when it comes to takeaways, with 20.6 on average.
