Watch Nuggets vs. Hawks: TV channel, live stream info, start time

Published

on

Through 3 Quarters

The Atlanta Hawks typically have all the answers at home, but the Denver Nuggets are posing a tough problem. Three quarters in and the Nuggets’ offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating Atlanta 79-69 three quarters in.

Power forward Aaron Gordon (20 points) and center Nikola Jokic (20 points) have been the top scorers for Denver. This makes it four consecutive games in which Nikola Jokic has had at least 11 rebounds.

Atlanta has been relying on point guard Trae Young, who has 19 points and six assists, and power forward John Collins, who has 19 points along with six boards. Young does need to be careful, however, as he is in foul trouble with four.

This is tied with the least points Atlanta has had yet this season going into the fourth quarter.

Who’s Playing

Atlanta @ Denver

Current Records: Atlanta 4-8; Denver 7-4

What to Know

The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Denver Nuggets at 9 p.m. ET on Friday at Ball Arena after having had a few days off. Denver should still be riding high after a victory, while the Hawks will be looking to get back in the win column.

On Tuesday, Atlanta lost to the Utah Jazz on the road by a decisive 110-98 margin. One thing holding Atlanta back was the mediocre play of power forward John Collins, who did not have his best game: he finished with only seven points on 3-for-11 shooting in his 35 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, it was all tied up 44-44 at the half for Denver and the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, but Denver stepped up in the second half for a 101-98 win. The Nuggets’ shooting guard Will Barton looked sharp as he shot 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 30 points and six rebounds.

The Hawks are expected to lose this next one by 3.5. Now might not be the best time to take Atlanta against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past five consecutive games.

Atlanta suffered a grim 126-102 defeat to Denver when the two teams previously met in March. Can Atlanta avenge their defeat, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll soon find out.

The Miami Dolphins have reached a deal with former Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio to become their defensive coordinator, a person familiar with the hire told The Associated Press on Sunday.

The person spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been finalized.

Fangio, who had been one of the most sought-after defensive coordinator candidates this offseason, was Denver’s head coach from 2019-21, going 19-30.

The Dolphins fired defensive coordinator Josh Boyer after three seasons with the team.

Miami finished the season ranked 18th in total defense, 27th in passing defense and tied for 24th on third downs as the team dealt with various injuries.

The 64-year-old Fangio, a respected defensive mind, figures to mesh well with Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel and the talent Miami has on defence.

Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins had a career year, totaling 98 tackles. Linebacker Jaelan Phillips and rookie cornerback Kader Kohou both had standout seasons.
