Through 1 Quarter

The Charlotte Hornets are giving their home crowd exactly what it was hoping to see. After one quarter neither squad has the contest in the bag, but Charlotte leads 30-28 over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Hornets have been relying on shooting guard Terry Rozier, who has seven points, and power forward Jalen McDaniels, who has six points along with five boards.

Charlotte and Minnesota came into this matchup with previous-game wins. We’ll see if Charlotte can maintain their lead to polish off another win and cancel out Minnesota’s positive energy.

What to Know

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t won a contest against the Charlotte Hornets since Oct. 25 of 2019, but they’ll be looking to end the drought Friday. They will face off against one another at 7 p.m. ET at Spectrum Center. The point spread is more or less neutral, so fans should expect a close matchup.

The Miami Heat typically have all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Minnesota proved too difficult a challenge. The Timberwolves took down Miami 113-101. Among those leading the charge for Minnesota was shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who shot 6-for-15 from downtown and finished with a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds in addition to six dimes.

As for Charlotte, they can’t say they have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. They came out on top against the Orlando Magic by a score of 106-99 on Wednesday. Charlotte’s shooting guard Terry Rozier looked sharp as he had 27 points and five assists along with six steals.

The Timberwolves are now 9-9 while the Hornets sit at 12-8. A couple defensive stats to keep an eye on: Minnesota have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.10%, which places them fourth in the league. Less enviably, Charlotte is stumbling into the game with the third most points allowed per game in the league, having given up 112.4 on average.
