Tim Anderson Reveals That He Is Suspended To Open 2022

Chicago White Sox‘s shortstop Tim Anderson will be suspended for the first two games of the 2022 regular season.

He also received a $10,000 fine.

“They gave me 2 game suspension and 10k fine ….” he wrote via Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

A lot of people in the replies are wondering why Anderson is being suspended to start the 2022 campaign.

The reason stems from an incident in September, 2021, with an umpire.

Anderson received the suspension in late September, and it was initially for three regular-season games.

 

Anderson Got Suspended For An Incident Last Year

He made contact with umpire Tim Timmons during a scuffle with the Detroit Tigers in a game last season.

According to an article by Jesse Rogers of ESPN last year, he “stormed the field with his teammates after the Tigers took issue with White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu‘s hard slide into second base following a wild pitch.”

So there you go: that’s why Anderson will be unavailable as the Pale Hose opens its season in about a week.

Rogers wrote that before the scuffle, Abreu “had been hit by a pitch from Tigers reliever Alex Lange. No punches were thrown and the teams separated, but during the fracas, Anderson made contact with Timmons.”

The star infielder appealed the suspension, and the league informed him it was lowered to two games.

Anderson remains an integral part of the White Sox’s lineup, and is the heart and soul of the clubhouse.

Last year, he hit .309/.338/.469, with 17 homers, 18 stolen bases, and 94 runs scored.

Thanks to having positive contributions in hitting, fielding, and baserunning, Anderson accumulated 4.3 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) last season.

He will try to top that output in 2022.

Richard Sherman Shares His Preview For Eagles-49ers

The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles will face off in this weekend’s marquee matchup in the NFL.

It will be a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship Game and hopefully a more competitive game than that one, as 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy exited it early with a torn UCL in his throwing elbow.

San Francisco is currently favored to win that game even though it will be played in Philly, and former star cornerback Richard Sherman, who had a stint with the Niners not too long ago, says he expects the Niners to win, per The Volume.

Sherman’s reasoning is that although the Eagles are an NFL-best 10-1, their wins haven’t come that easily, and their defense is vulnerable.

They rank 19th in total yards given up and 20th in points allowed, and their pass defense ranks near the bottom of the league in multiple categories.

San Francisco has the goods to expose that pass defense with two stud wide receivers in Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk and one of the league’s best tight ends in George Kittle, not to mention quarterback Brock Purdy.

Purdy leads everyone in passer rating, yards per pass attempt, yards per completion, and pass completion percentage while ranking second in QBR.

Sherman also mentioned how the Niners’ defense has gotten even better after their trade for pass rusher Chase Young about a month ago.

Young has 1.5 sacks in three games with them, and the attention he has attracted from opposing offensive lineman has helped unlock Nick Bosa, last season’s Defensive Player of the Year.
