Cooper Kupp’s 11-yard touchdown catch from Matthew Stafford had some historical significance to it, as the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver caught his 21st touchdown of the season (including postseason). Kupp became just the third player in NFL history to have 21 touchdown receptions in a season, joining Randy Moss and Jerry Rice. 

Moss had 24 touchdown catches with the New England Patriots in 2007 and Rice had 22 for the San Francisco 49ers in 1987 and 1989. Kupp has five touchdown receptions this postseason, the most in a single playoff in Rams franchise history. His six playoff touchdowns in his career are also the most in Rams history. With Kupp and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis each having five receiving touchdowns in the playoffs, it’s the first time in a single NFL postseason that multiple players each had that many receiving touchdowns. 

Including the postseason, Kupp is the only player to surpass 2,000 receiving yards in a season (2,333 and counting heading into Super Bowl LVI). His 170 catches are also the most by any player in a season (including playoffs) in league history. His 27 receptions in the red zone are tied with Thomas (2019) and Davante Adams (2020) for the most in a season and his 846 yards after the catch and 89 first-down receptions are the fifth-most in NFL history. His 23 catches of 25-plus yards are the most for any player in a season.
