Thirteen pucks went in the net Monday night in Edmonton, but only nine of them counted.

That’s right, the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks had four different goals overturned by replay review.

The bizarre night was especially detrimental for San Jose, as three out of the four overturned were scored by San Jose, costing them a win in what ended up being a 5-4 overtime victory for the Oilers.

The first overturned goal came early in the game when Tomas Hertl ripped one by Jack Campbell in the first period. But the Oilers started a theme, as they challenged for offside and the goal was overturned.

Zach Hyman was the next victim of video review, as with the score 1-1, Hyman had his go-ahead goal overturned as it was deemed he was in the crease and interfered with Sharks goaltender James Reimer.

Next, with the Oilers up 2-1, an Andreas Johnsson goal was overturned after Logan Couture was caught interfering with Campbell.

And the Oilers still weren’t done bugging the replay officials, as Noah Gregor scored to put the Sharks up 5-3 in the third, but the goal was overturned for offside.

The replay officials will certainly sleep well after this one.

Japan will start left-hander Shota Imanaga in Tuesday’s World Baseball Classic against the United States.

The U.S. has not announced a starter yet but Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly is next in line to pitch.

Japan’s decision to start Imanaga means MLB stars Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani would need to come out of the bullpen to contribute on the mound. Darvish did just that in Japan’s quarterfinal win over Italy when he allowed one run on two hits in two innings of work.

Ohtani — who has made two starts in the tournament — told reporters that he was “mentally prepared” to pitch in the game but added that coming out of the bullpen while serving as the designated hitter would be a challenge.

Imanaga, 29, has seven years of NBP experience and posted a 2.04 ERA with 151 strikeouts in 24 starts last season. That included three complete games, two shutouts and a no-hitter. Imanaga followed starter Darvish and pitched three innings in Japan’s pool-play win over Korea on March 10. He also pitched one inning ahead of Darvish in the quarterfinal against Italy.
