The Cincinnati Reds have had a busy offseason to say the least, but not in terms of adding talent to the team.

Instead, they have watched Nick Castellanos sign with the Philadelphia Phillies, traded Tucker Barnhart to the Detroit Tigers, Sonny Gray to the Minnesota Twins, and Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez to the Seattle Mariners.

It’s been a complete fire sale for the Reds, who now try to piece together a rebuild.

Though it must have been disappointing to watch several stars leave, there is a silver lining in all of this, that being that top pitching prospect Hunter Greene has made the Opening Day rotation and will make his big-league debut on April 10.

This is exciting news if you’re a Reds fan.

Amongst all the chaos of the fire sale, some good has emerged and now fans have a chance to see their top prospect pitch at the major league level.

Greene was selected by the Reds in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft and has been the Reds’ top prospect ever since.

Now, he heads to the majors with a chance to show the baseball world what he can do.

Greene, 22, went 10-8 in the minors last season and posted a 3.30 ERA.

He has a career ERA of 3.97 in the minors and has compiled a 13-16 record over three seasons.

Greene will join Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, and Mike Minor in the Reds’ rotation.

The Reds will be on the road for Greene’s debut, taking on the defending champion Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

But that won’t take away from the excitement surrounding Greene as he begins his career.

We’ll see if he can make an impact.
