Raptors vs. Pistons odds, line: 2021 NBA picks, Nov. 13 predictions from proven computer model

Published

on

The Detroit Pistons will take on the Toronto Raptors at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Scotiabank Arena. Toronto is 7-6 overall and 2-5 at home, while the Pistons are 2-9 overall and 1-5 on the road. The two franchises both finished in the bottom third of the Eastern Conference last season but are at different stages of their rebuild with the Raptors establishing a trio of new stars, while the Pistons have identified a few key pieces but are still searching for an identity.

However, this could be an opportunity for Detroit to gain some confidence after winning all three-head-to-head matchups last season and covering the spread in all those games as well. Still, Toronto is favored by 10 points in the latest Raptors vs. Pistons odds from Caesars Sportsbook and the over-under is set at 202.5. Before entering any Pistons vs. Raptors picks, you’ll want to see the NBA predictions from the model at SportsLine.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every NBA game 10,000 times and has returned over $9,000 in profit on its top-rated NBA picks over the past three-plus seasons. What you need to know about the Raptors

Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Toronto beat the Philadelphia 76ers 115-109 on Thursday. It was another big night for Toronto point guard Fred VanVleet, who shot 6-for-11 from beyond the arc and finished with 32 points, seven dimes and six boards.

VanVleet and OG Anunoby, who are both averaging 19.7 points per game this season, are the latest entries on a long list of players who the Raptors have developed within their system. Pascal Siakam should also be back in the lineup on Saturday after being rested on Thursday in the second game of a back-to-back. Siakam had missed the first eight games of the season while recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered late last season.

What you need to know about the Pistons

Meanwhile, things couldn’t have gone much worse for Detroit as the Pistons lost 98-78 to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. Small forward Saddiq Bey struggled in the loss, finishing with only four points on 1-for-12 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court. Bey is off to a slow start this season, shooting just 36.0 percent from the floor and 25.8 percent from the 3-point line.

However, Bey shot 40.4 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from beyond the arc as a rookie and the Pistons think he’s clearly an important part of their future. Meanwhile, No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham has been working through his own woes (30.8 percent shooting), but he’s 12-for-26 in his last couple of games and had his first 20-point game on Wednesday.

How to make Pistons vs. Raptors picks

The model is leaning over on the total and it’s also generated a point-spread pick that is hitting in almost 70 percent of simulations. You can only see the pick at SportsLine.

The “City Edition” jerseys for NBA teams are some of the most sought-after items sold in the league.

Every year, fans flock to buy these special annual pieces of team history.

And it seems that every year, the jerseys are leaked before their official reveal.

It looks like that has happened again because pictures shared by NBA UK Fans, via NBA Retweet, seem to show City Edition jerseys for both the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls.

Fans are already debating if these jerseys are good or not.

A yearly tradition, the jerseys are created to show off the “inherent bond between, court, community and culture,” according to a press release from the NBA.

While they definitely do that, they also become incredibly popular merchandise the moment that they go on sale.

Year after year, the city jerseys are some of the most popular items sold at arenas and in fan shops.

If these two jerseys are legitimate, they reveal that both the Mavericks and Bulls are going for understated and clean looks in 2023-24.

They are both relying on a darker scheme with clean fonts and minimal other colors.

There is no doubt that both of these jerseys will fly off the shelves.

As for the rest of the league, we should expect to see their special jerseys in the weeks ahead as the new season unfolds.

Players across the league will be brandishing these jerseys during select games and fans will be wearing them year-round.

These two will certainly impress many but there are 28 more on the way.

Insider Reveals Celtics Star Decided Not To Get Offseason Surgery

Published

After another disheartening loss deep in the playoffs last season, the Boston Celtics are hoping to make another run at their 18th NBA championship.

They made big changes during the offseason, jettisoning former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart and sharpshooter Danilo Gallinari to obtain star center Kristaps Porzingis, and although they also lost 3-and-D forward Grant Williams, some insist trading for Porzingis was a genius move.

Yet Boston’s championship hopes will ultimately fall on star forward Jayson Tatum more than anyone.

Via ClutchPoints, Ramona Shelburne said Tatum thought he may need surgery on his non-shooting wrist, but he ended up deciding against it.

Tatum had a career-best effort last season by averaging 30.1 points. 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists a game as the Celtics finished with a 57-25 record, which put them in second place in the Eastern Conference.

In the Eastern Conference Finals they fell behind, 3-0, to the Miami Heat, a team that looked inferior to them on paper, only to charge back and win the next three games.

Everything seemed set up for Boston to achieve a historic Game 7 win at home, but they scored only 84 points and lost by 19.

Tatum was a major reason for the loss, as he scored just 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting.

By trading Smart and receiving Porzingis, the Celtics may be much improved offensively, but the question is how they will continue to be one of the NBA’s top defensive squads.

In addition, their bench has been greatly weakened, as Malcolm Brogdon, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, is their only reserve who is any kind of offensive threat.

Fans React To Notable Miguel Cabrera News

Friday came with big news for Detroit Tigers fans.

Not only they are enjoying Miguel Cabrera’s last series as an active major leaguer, but they also found out that the talented slugger already has a job lined up in the organization once this weekend’s series is over.

“Following Sunday’s game, Miguel Cabrera’s next chapter will be in Detroit as a Special Assistant to the President of Baseball Operations,” the team announced.

Fans weren’t afraid to voice their opinion on this move.

Most of them were happy to learn that the franchise legend, who won just about every individual accolade there is to win with the Tigers, will at least have an influence on baseball decisions in the future.

It could be a positive influence for the Tigers’ current players to see Cabrera around Comerica Park often, although his exact role is still undetermined (or least hasn’t been revealed).

There is an important aspect of retaining Cabrera in an advisor/assistant role: he could stay around the organization, helping Latin players in anything they may need from adapting to the culture, to the language.

Perhaps it will be Cabrera’s first experience in what could be a career making baseball decisions in Detroit at some point, although it’s unclear if it will be a role that interests him.

In any case, he is one of the biggest, most prominent Tigers in history, and having him around so quickly after retiring is huge news for the organization as it tries to return to contention eventually.
