The Pittsburgh Pirates are openly tanking.

They’ve traded away a ton of talent over the past few seasons, including Andrew McCutchen, Gerrit Cole, Starling Marte, Josh Bell, Austin Meadows, Tyler Glasnow, Adam Frazier, and many others.

Now, outfielder Bryan Reynolds may be the next to go.

Reynolds’ name has popped up in recent trade discussions, as the San Diego Padres have checked in on him to see if they can grab another outfielder.

But it appears that some trades might already be in motion.

Pirates insider Jason Mackey reported that Reynolds was not out on the field today taking batting practice before the team’s spring training game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Hot Stove Heating Up Again?

This is a little odd, as Reynolds is one of the top remaining players on the Pirates’ roster.

Perhaps a deal could be in the works soon.

It’s strange that he wasn’t present with his teammates.

If Reynolds is indeed the next to go, it’ll be down to Ke’Bryan Hayes and Kevin Newman in terms of stars on Pittsburgh’s roster.

The team clearly does not have its sights set on winning in 2022 or anytime soon for that matter.

It’s going to be a while before they become contenders again.

Of course, they had a solid stretch between 2013-15, where they reached the postseason three straight years, but it appears those days are well and truly over.

We’ll see if Reynolds is ultimately dealt.

If he is, he can be added to the list of great players the Pirates have let slip over the past few years.

Each one of these trades seemingly has not panned out for the Bucs.

Who’s to say a potential trade of Reynolds would pan out either?
