Patriots-Falcons DFS lineups: Fantasy Football Today analysts share captain picks, daily lineups for TNF

Published

on

Every NFL week starts with a Thursday Night Football game for most of the remainder of the 2021 season, and these are our favorite slates to play Daily Fantasy Football. The TNF showdown slate allows you a smaller crop of players to choose from, and if your cheap sleeper pick hits, you can cash big in your tournaments or easily win your head-to-head DFS matchups.

Every week, I’ll get the Thursday Night DFS picks from our experts and we’ll feature them below. But first, let’s preview the matchup and what we might expect.

Last week we were greeted with a massive upset. The Dolphins came up with an interesting game plan to slow down Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense and it wasn’t too complicated — send the house early and often. The Dolphins blitzed Jackson on nearly every dropback and the end result was a dominant defensive performance that led Miami to the surprising victory. Unfortunately, a dominant defense doesn’t make for a fun Daily Fantasy slate — unless of course you loaded up on Miami D/ST in your captain spot and faded high-priced Ravens.

This week, the action will once again center around a heavy, nearly-touchdown favorite — the Patriots. That means you can expect a lot of people playing this DFS slate to stack a lineup around a predicted gamescript that heavily favors New England’s run game and Atlanta’s passing game (playing in catch-up mode). It will be interesting to see how rostership shakes out in the Patriots backfield with Damien Harris returning after missing Week 10 — the Rhamondre Stevenson breakout week.

And let’s not forget, it was just two weeks ago that Atlanta pulled off a major upset over New Orleans and if the gamescript doesn’t go as Vegas predicts, you could cash in by going contrarian in this one. As you’ll see below, our experts are mixed on how this game will play out. So that alone should make for a fun DFS slate!

Without further ado, here’s a look at who our experts are picking on this DFS Thursday Night Football slate:

The Los Angeles Rams had a frustrating Week 4 Monday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49ers.

They failed to score a touchdown, and quarterback Matthew Stafford threw an interception.

In contrast, the 49ers scored 24 points, which included a touchdown run by Jeff Wilson Jr. and a 57-yard reception for a score by Deebo Samuel.

The Rams defense also had a poor showing after tallying zero sacks, while San Francisco finished with seven.

San Francisco safety Talanoa Hufanga also scored a 52-yard pick-six to bury the Rams further.

Despite the defeat, All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner led the way for Los Angeles with ten total tackles.

It would have been 11 if the tackling of fans counted.

NFL Unlimited shared the video of a spectator who disrupted the game.

The flare-carrying man ran to the playing field as stadium security tried to chase him.

The disturbance ended when Wagner laid out his frustration on that person.

That incident only enhanced the tension Wagner felt because none of their defensive schemes worked.

Tough Ordeal For Players And Security

While football players are big and muscular, they are at risk when an intruder takes the field, especially if he is yielding a concealed weapon.

Meanwhile, stadium security also feels deflated every time a spectator breaches their ranks.

It’s a problem that is difficult to solve because some individuals find pride in being able to stop the game.

Likewise, it is a perfect platform to attract the attention of a huge audience.

Luckily, no one was harmed, except for the fan, who might face some charges.

The game ended peacefully, but the Rams will feel restless after losing to their division rivals.

The Rams can go back to their winning ways by defeating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

The Broncos Add Experience To Their Backfield

The injury woes for the Denver Broncos continue to pile up.

First, it was Tim Patrick who suffered a season-ending ACL injury during their practice in early August.

Now, the Broncos will lose another valuable player on offense as running back Javonte Williams also suffered a season-ending ACL injury during their Week 4 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The team addressed the hole in their roster by signing his replacement.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero tweeted, “The #Broncos are signing RB Latavius Murray off the #Saints’ practice squad, per source. With Javonte Williams out for the season, Murray now joins Melvin Gordon and Mike Boone in the Denver backfield.”

Murray Brings Experience To Denver’s Backfield

The Broncos will be the fifth team Murray will play for in his ten-year career.

He had two stints with the New Orleans Saints, the first in 2019 when he signed a four-year, $14.4 million contract.

Murray stayed with New Orleans for two seasons before joining the Baltimore Ravens last year.

The Ravens acquired him after losing J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards to season-ending injuries.

He returned to the Saints as a member of the practice squad and was elevated to the active roster on October 1.

Murray was re-assigned to the practice squad, giving Denver the chance to sign him.

The sixth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft also suited up for the Minnesota Vikings and the then-Oakland Raiders.

The Broncos will need Murray’s experience to help elevate their struggling offense.

Denver scored 23 points in their loss to Las Vegas and a combined 27 points in their two wins.

Meanwhile, Williams finished their Week 4 game with ten carries for 28 yards.

On the other hand, Melvin Gordon committed his fourth fumble of the season, resulting in a defensive touchdown by Raiders cornerback Amik Robertson.

The Broncos will try to bounce back in Week 5 when they face the Indianapolis Colts.
