After the 2020 matchup between the Big Ten Conference rivals was canceled due to COVID-19 issues within the Michigan program, the 117th installment of “The Game” takes place when the Wolverines (10-1, 7-1) host the Buckeyes (10-1, 8-0) on Saturday. Why Ohio State can cover

The Buckeyes just don’t lose conference games anymore, as they have won 23 consecutive contests against Big Ten rivals since suffering a 49-20 loss at Purdue on Oct. 20, 2018. In addition, they own a 21-game winning streak versus ranked conference opponents. Ohio State also has won all 13 of its true road games since the setback at Purdue and 12 straight meetings with ranked opponents away from home.

Redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud is coming off his fourth 400-yard performance of the season and ranks eighth in the nation in both passing yards (3,468) and completion percentage (71.1) while tying for fourth in touchdown tosses (36). Chris Olave is tied for second in the country as he has hauled in 13 of those scoring passes, including 11 during his current eight-game streak, and is coming off his fifth 100-yard effort of the year as he gained 140 on seven catches against the Spartans. Freshman TreVeyon Henderson has run for a TD in eight of his 11 games and is tied for 10th in the nation with 14 rushing touchdowns while ranking 19th with 1,098 yards on the ground.

Why Michigan can cover

Michigan is no slouch offensively, as it ranks 15th in the country in both rushing (218.4 yards) and scoring (36.9 points). The Wolverines amassed 503 total yards in last week’s 59-18 triumph at Maryland, which marked the eighth time this season they have eclipsed the 30-point mark. They proved capable of scoring in many fashions, rushing for three touchdowns and passing for a trio while returning both a kickoff and an interception for scores.

The Wolverines’ ground attack is led by Hassan Haskins, who ran for 78 yards against the Terrapins while posting his fifth two-touchdown performance of the season. The senior is 23rd in the country with 1,063 rushing yards and tied for 16th with 13 TD runs. Michigan hopes to get back sophomore Blake Corum, who has recorded 778 yards and 10 touchdowns but has missed the last two games with a high-ankle sprain.

The Phillies Had A Familiar Celebration Tuesday Night

The Philadelphia Phillies want to establish themselves as perennial playoff contenders.

Last season, they made the playoffs as the final Wild Card team and went all the way to the World Series.

This season, they are returning to a familiar spot.

On Tuesday night, the Phillies clinched a playoff berth with their walk-off win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

This is the first time the Phillies have made back-to-back postseasons since 2010 and 2011.

In 2022, most fans saw the Phillies celebrate each round with the song “Dancing on My Own.”

According to John Clark, the Phillies appear to be bringing back the same song for this postseason run.

The Phillies are in a much better spot this year than last.

With a Cubs loss, they clinched the first Wild Card spot last night as well.

That will give them home-field advantage for the first round.

Playing in front of the fans at Citizens Bank Park was one of the main reasons for the Phillies’ postseason success last year.

They dominated at home and rode that wave to the Fall Classic.

It will be interesting to see if the Phillies have another run in them this year.

Every team knows what the Phillies are capable of and they will not be taken lightly.

Their postseason success will come down to how well they can pitch.

Both the starters and bullpen need to be on top of their game as they get set to face some of the best lineups in baseball.

Many people are hoping to see a rematch of last year’s NLDS with the Phillies and Atlanta Braves.

If the Phillies can advance out of the Wild Card round, that is who they will most likely face.

Analyst Makes Clear Statement On Chiefs’ Status In The AFC

Published

The Miami Dolphins currently sit atop the AFC East with an immaculate 3-0 record.

They also boast the most explosive and entertaining offense in today’s game, as shown by putting up a historic 70 points against the Denver Broncos.

However, sports analyst Craig Carton believes the Kansas City Chiefs are still the team to beat in the AFC, regardless of their record.

In the latest edition of his show, the renowned pundit explained that the Chiefs got that glimmer back in their win vs. the Chicago Bears, and he believes the Dolphins are in for a bad time vs. the Buffalo Bills.

Whatever the case, the Chiefs are still the reigning Super Bowl champions, and that’s always hard to bet against.

Moreover, the way Patrick Mahomes has played has made people think he’s in for another MVP campaign, and Travis Kelce and Chris Jones have shown no signs of rust or injury whatsoever.

Granted that the Chiefs didn’t seem ready to play in the season opener, and one could argue that they don’t have as much talent at their skill positions as they used to, but they still have Andy Reid.

The Chiefs are the kind of team you can never count out of any game, regardless of the rival or the deficit.

They continue to have that aura of champions, and sometimes, that’s all it takes to repeat.

It won’t be easy, and everybody will give them their best shot, but if someone can do it, that’s them.
