Odell Beckham Jr. got off to a hot start in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

He scored the first touchdown of the game and was on pace to go for well over 100 yards.

But then disaster struck for himself and the Los Angeles Rams.

Beckham fell to the turf without taking any contact.

He was initially ruled as questionable to return, but was later seen on the sidelines out of his pads.

His day was over and all the focus turned toward the extent of his injury.

Unfortunately, NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared the worst possible update.

#Rams WR Odell Beckham Jr is believed to have torn his ACL in last night’s Super Bowl win, source said. That means a long road of recovery for the free agent, who has a challenge to be ready for 2022. Beckham had 2 catches for 52 yards, 1 TD and 1 moonwalk before the injury.

The receiver is believed to have torn his ACL for the second time in two seasons.

This is especially tough for Beckham given his contract status beginning this offseason.

Seeking A New Deal

Beckham is officially a free agent now that the season is over.

He was able to get released by the Cleveland Browns and sign what essentially turned into a “prove it” deal with the Rams for the remainder of the season.

He proved himself with five touchdowns in eight regular-season games with the Rams.

Beckham then added two more postseason touchdowns, and may have done even more damage if he played the entire Super Bowl.

So teams all around the NFL saw what he could do when put in a good situation.

Yet this is a second ACL tear for the receiver who will turn 30 years old in November.

Landing a lucrative multi-year deal with guaranteed money may be hard given this injury and his age.

The alternative may be taking a deal that is heavy with incentives, and proving himself once again.
