The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a swift transition from Bruce Arians to Todd Bowles.

The announcement of the coaching change came at the same time as Arians’ resignation as the team’s head coach.

However, he won’t be going anywhere because the Super Bowl LV champion mentor will join general manager Jason Licht in a front-office role.

In a statement addressed to all his former players, Arians has nothing but gratitude for those he had coached in Tampa Bay throughout three seasons.

But he did mention one particular player who has helped finalize his position of stepping down.

FOX Sports’ NFL insider Jay Glazer alluded to Arians’ train of thought.

Bruce Arians told me once he knew Brady was coming back he starting thinking he could step away and leave Todd Bowles in great position. Said there was a rule they needed clarified, which they got this week at Owners Mtg, which led to timing.

Glazer tweeted, “Bruce Arians told me once he knew Brady was coming back he started thinking he could step away and leave Todd Bowles in a great position. Said there was a rule they needed clarifying, which they got this week at Owners Mtg, which led to timing.”

The rule might pertain to the Rooney Rule wherein teams must interview a person of color or of a minority lineage for a head coaching or front office position.

After the NFL’s annual meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, the teams agreed to expand to rule to also consider women for open positions.

The Buccaneers must have clarified if they need to interview people to address the rule.

However, other teams didn’t have any apprehensions when they promoted Bowles as head coach.

Tampa Bay Is In A Good Position

The Buccaneers’ roster remains strong even if they didn’t get everyone back.

Aside from Brady, they still have Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and new addition Russell Gage on offense.

Vita Vea also anchors their defensive line, while Devin White, Lavonte David, Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, and Shaquil Barrett are still around.

A postseason berth is the least that a stacked roster like this must achieve.
