NBA DFS: Donovan Mitchell and top DraftKings, FanDuel daily Fantasy basketball picks for Nov. 22, 2021

Published

on

The Orlando Magic’s young roster is filled with relatively unknown names to casual NBA fans, but point guard Cole Anthony has stepped up this season as the team’s top player and as a legitimate selection for competitive NBA DFS lineups. He missed the Magic’s last game against Milwaukee on Saturday with an ankle injury, and could be out when the two teams meet again on Monday. With Anthony unavailable, R.J. Hampton saw more minutes off the bench and scored 19 points and had nine assists with five rebounds against the Bucks.

If Anthony finds his way back on the floor on Monday, rookie Franz Wagner could also be an interesting option on daily Fantasy sites like FanDuel or DraftKings. Wagner had a quiet night against the Bucks on Saturday, but in the three games prior, he had been averaging 17.3 points 5.3 rebounds, and hit 45 percent of his 3-point attempts. Before finalizing your NBA DFS picks for Monday, be sure to check out the NBA DFS advice, player rankings, stacks and top daily Fantasy basketball picks from SportsLine’s Mike McClure

McClure is a DFS professional with nearly $2 million in career winnings. He’s also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every minute of every game 10,000 times, taking factors like matchups, statistical trends and injuries into account.

This allows him to find the best NBA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They’re a must-see for any NBA DFS player.

On Sunday, McClure listed Bulls guard Zach LaVine as part of his NBA DFS player pool on FanDuel and DraftKings. The result: LaVine finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists to return 37.5 points on DraftKings and 38.2 points on FanDuel. Anybody that included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

Now, McClure has turned his attention to the Monday, November 22 NBA DFS slate and locked in his top daily Fantasy basketball picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.

Top NBA DFS picks for Monday, November 22

One of McClure’s top NBA DFS picks for Monday is Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell at $8,500 on DraftKings and $8,300 on FanDuel. Mitchell is coming off of his best performance since November 11, when he scored 26 points with five rebounds and five assists in a win against Sacramento on Saturday.

On Monday, the Jazz host Memphis, and the Grizzlies have been a bottom-10 Fantasy defense against opposing shooting guards. Among the teams that Mitchell played at least two games against last season, he had his second-highest scoring average (35 points per game), fourth-most assists (6.5 per game) and second-highest 3-point percentage (71.4) against the Grizzlies. Against the Timberwolves on Saturday, Memphis allowed D’Angelo Russell to score 28 points and hit 60 percent of his field-goal attempts.

Another part of McClure’s optimal NBA DFS strategy includes rostering Minnesota’s D’Angelo Russell at $7,600 on DraftKings and $7,400 on FanDuel. Since returning from an ankle injury that kept him out for the first few games in November, Russell has been playing at a high level. Over the eight games since he’s been back in the lineup, he’s averaged 21.8 points, 6.3 assists and has shot 41.5 percent from the field.

On Monday, the Timberwolves take on a New Orleans Pelicans team that has struggled to defend on the perimeter and gives up the sixth-most points per game in the NBA. Russell is coming off a big night and his numbers on the road have actually been significantly better than at home this season. As a visitor, Russell is averaging 22.8 points, seven assists, and is sinking 42 percent of his 3-point attempts in 2021-22.

How to set NBA DFS lineups for Monday, November 22

McClure is also targeting a player who could go off for massive numbers on Monday because of a dream matchup. This pick could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here.

So who is DFS pro Mike McClure putting in his optimal NBA DFS lineups for Monday? Visit SportsLine now to see optimal NBA DFS picks, rankings, advice, and stacks, all from a professional DFS player who has almost $2 million in career winnings, and find out.

Rob Manfred Vows To Keep The Orioles In Baltimore

The Baltimore Orioles enjoyed a little unexpected success in 2022, winning 83 games and finishing above the .500 mark for the first time since 2016.

The team also finished just three games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for the final American League Wild Card spot.

However, in recent years, there has been some speculation that the Orioles may soon be on their way out of Baltimore and headed for greener grass.

But MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred vehemently spoke out against these claims and offered his take on the situation, saying that as long as he holds the office of the commissioner, the Orioles will be remaining in Baltimore.

Manfred Has No Plans To Move The Orioles

It appears that Manfred has no plans to move the Orioles out of Baltimore.

For Orioles fans, this is good news.

The team appears to be on an upswing of sorts.

The O’s lost 110 games in 2021 and fell short of the postseason for the fifth consecutive year.

While they fell short again in 2022, their season had quite a few good moments, contrary to most Orioles teams in recent memory.

The team dealt away Trey Mancini and Jorge Lopez at the trade deadline, but remained afloat thanks to the emergence of young stars such as AL Rookie of the Year finalist Adley Rutschman and top prospect Gunnar Henderson.

The Orioles have also made it quite clear that they intend to compete in 2023 and build a postseason contender.

They have not reached October since 2016, but with a few moves, they could find themselves in the mix next season, with any rumors of them moving out of Baltimore put to rest.

Scott Boras Roasts The Red Sox Over Xander Bogaerts

The Boston Red Sox may find themselves in a perilous position if their star shortstop Xander Bogaerts walks in free agency.

The 30-year-old hit .307 with 15 home runs and 73 RBI during the regular season.

Retaining the slugger is high on the Red Sox’s list of priorities.

Bogaerts made his debut with the team in 2013 and played a key role in them winning the World Series.

The slugger also played a key role in the Sox winning in 2018.

Scott Boras, Bogaerts’ agent, commented on the situation and gave a grim preview of what life could be like for the Red Sox without their star shortstop, while also roasting them in a not-so subtle way.

Boras Roasts Sox With Hilarious Pun

The Red Sox were already pretty “so-so” with Bogaerts on their side in 2022, despite having much of the same team that made a surprise run to the ALCS in 2021.

So if Bogaerts ultimately walks in free agency, Boston could find themselves with a worse than “so-so” status.

But beyond that, Boras gave quite a literal assessment of the team as it pertains to their name, and Bogaerts’ nickname, that being “X-man.”

The Red Sox have already been outbid in free agency a couple of times this offseason, barely missing out on Jose Abreu and Zach Eflin in the same week.

The offseason in and of itself has been quite “so-so” for the Red Sox, and could get even worse if what Boras alluded to takes place.

As of now, the Red Sox are hyper-focused on trying to retain Bogaerts.

But you have to respect Boras for using such a legendary pun.

MLB Insider Reveals A Dynamic Andrew McCutchen Market

Published

on

Andrew McCutchen was one of MLB‘s brightest stars when he broke through in 2009.

He single-handedly made the Pittsburgh Pirates relevant for several years.

When injuries started to pile up on his aging body and time started to erode his skills, McCutchen remained a productive hitter thanks to his elite plate discipline and occasional power, even though he was far from his best version.

He had productive stints with the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies before landing on the Milwaukee Brewers last year.

With the Brewers, he was about league-average with a .237/.316/.384 line, 17 home runs, and a 98 wRC+.

In other words, he can still help an MLB team with his combination of power, plate discipline, and experience.

That’s why two contenders are reportedly hunting for his services.

“The Dodgers and Rays have interest in former MVP Andrew McCutchen, who is 52 hits away from 2,000 for his career, and 13 homers away from 300,” MLB insider Buster Olney reported on Tuesday.

McCutchen Can Still Contribute

It would be cool to see McCutchen land with a team that gives him a chance at semi-regular at-bats.

Landing on the Rays or Dodgers would be ideal because the organizations know how to get the best out of their players, even seasoned veterans like McCutchen.

There is still some thump in McCutchen’s bat, and LA and Tampa know this.

Additionally, he is a serviceable defensive outfielder as long as he is deployed in one of the corners.

He used to be a terrific center fielder, but he is 36 already and evidently has lost a step.

His experience and know-how make him a viable alternative as a starting corner outfielder.

Who will sign the talented veteran?
