In a mere matter of days, the Washington Nationals have found themselves without a single superstar on their roster, save for maybe Nelson Cruz.

Stephen Strasburg is out for the year and Juan Soto is now gone.

Soto has been traded to the San Diego Padres along with Josh Bell.

And thus, the fire sale begins for the Nationals.

Just a year after trading away Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, they have traded Soto as well.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic took to Twitter to give Nationals fans a harsh reality check, listing all the players they’ve had and ultimately lost in just a few short years.

A Nationals Exodus

This is crazy.

The Nationals had a stacked ballclub not that long ago.

But now, here they are, having traded away their franchise guy in Soto.

Bell too is gone.

They had Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Scherzer, Turner, and Soto on the same ballclub in 2018.

All of those guys are gone now.

It’s crazy how things can change in just a few short years.

Everybody the Nationals had on that team is now with another team.

They’ve all departed Washington in that order too.

This means that it’s going to be a long time before the Nationals contend again.

They really have lost a whole lot of players, and high caliber players at that.

Assuming the Eric Hosmer situation gets resolved, the Padres are going to have a dangerous team with Soto, Bell, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr. all in the same lineup.

The Nationals on the other hand, will have nothing.

There’s plenty of time left until the trade deadline though, and we’ll see what else happens.
