In the last few hours, the MLB universe entered a state of shock when the league’s latest intentions were known.

MLB, in its latest proposal, is asking for the ability to eliminate hundreds of minor league playing jobs, reportedly after the 2022 campaign.

That plan is not approved yet, but one can see the league’s intention, even if they are asking to have the ability to increase or decrease the minor league Domestic Reserve List, currently at 180 players.

It’s like they just don’t care about public opinion anymore.

The fact that they clearly don’t care about the future of hundreds of minor leaguers dreaming of reaching the big leagues one day is probably even worse.

At times, it seems like MLB is actually sabotaging itself in their quest to save the most possible money.

This proposal is coming a bit over a year after they decided to eliminate 42 minor league teams across baseball.

MLB Is Threatening Its Own Product

The league is trying to kill the roots of its sport, the source of all the major league talent that helps them fill stadiums and put people in front of the TV.

Melissa Lockard, a staff member of The Athletic, pointed out that owners are being “short-sighted” and proceeded to heavily criticize them.

Baseball is far different from football and basketball: they need to adjust to seeing 91 mph fastballs to 99-100 in MLB, for example.

That’s why the minor leagues are there.

It’s just sad to see MLB getting in their way every year.

In their greed, they are threatening to make their product worse.

They just can’t see it.
