Despite the horrendous collapse of the Los Angeles Angels this season, there have been a few bright spots.

Most of them have been surrounding Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, two former American League MVPs.

Outside of those two, there isn’t much of anything to cheer about if you’re an Angels fan, except for the fact that Arte Moreno will be gone at the end of the year.

Trout once again had a fantastic season.

On Sunday, he hit his 39th home run of the season.

What makes this even more impressive, however, is the fact that Trout missed a significant portion of time this season due to an injury, 30 games to be exact.

Even injuries can’t slow him down.

The 31-year-old has also hit .282 with 79 RBI and a .994 OPS this season.

It’s rare that you’ll see a guy miss 30 games yet still come close to 40 homers, something that Trout could do in the final series of the season.

This ultimately speaks to the raw ability of Trout.

Even when he misses significant time, he can still come back healthy and put together a solid season, which is exactly what he has done in 2022.

It’s one of the main reasons why he’s an MVP candidate each season.

What Trout really needs is more of a supporting cast outside of just Ohtani.

That way, he can have more to work with and a chance to finally take home an elusive first World Series ring.

Still, it’s amazing that he can put up the stats that he put up this year, all while dealing with injury issues, something that has plagued him for a good portion of his career.
