LOOK: End zone fight breaks out during Oregon vs. Oregon State during rivalry game

Saturday’s Rivalry Week in College Football promised a slate of games laced with bitterness, and the Civil War in the Beaver State certainly was. Oregon’s game against Oregon State ended up being perhaps the most chippy of Saturday’s rivalry games, complete with a major brawl as the Ducks put a stamp on their victory over the Beavers late in the game.

After a late touchdown by Oregon State, a fight between the Ducks and Beavers broke out that saw both benches be cleared and punches thrown. Both teams were hit with unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and Oregon State wide receiver Tre’Shaun Harrison was ejected from the game for jumping a player from behind.

The brawl between the two teams came as a Beaver comeback attempt in the second half ultimately was to no avail. After being down 24-3 early in the third, Oregon State was able to make a game out of it with a flurry of scores, but the Ducks were nonetheless able to pad their lead and win the game 38-29.

Oregon’s victory allowed them to win the Pac-12 North Division, and they will now play in the Pac-12 Championship Game against the Utah Utes.

Maple Leafs’ Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly take batting practice with Blue Jays

It may not have been the right sport, but at least they were wearing the right colour when four members of the Toronto Maple Leafs hit the field for batting practice at Rogers Centre on Wednesday.

Forwards William Nylander, Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews joined defenceman Morgan Rielly for some batting practice and a few grounders, based on the videos tweeted out by the Blue Jays. Matthews appeared to hit one out of the park before rounding the bases and exclaiming: “That feels so good!”

Toronto outfielder George Springer joined the quartet for a photo, too.

Both the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs have games on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays play the Yankees at home, while the Leafs are in St. Thomas, Ont., to face the Sabres in a pre-season match. None of the four Leafs who took batting practice are scheduled to play, however.

Both games can be seen on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+: the Leafs are on at 6:30 p.m. ET, while the Jays are at 7 p.m. ET.
