James Harden just officially arrived with the Philadelphia 76ers but people are already talking about his plans for the future.

Harden could lead the franchise to new, unparalleled success – especially if Joel Embiid stays in the condition he’s been in lately.

But you can’t blame Philly fans for being afraid that Harden might take off in the near future because he’s done it before.

However, during his first press conference with the team, Harden confirmed he’s sticking around.

He told the media that he is planning to opt in to his $47.4 million option next year, which means he will be with the 76ers when the new season begins.

This means the 76ers have Harden for at least this season and the next but is that enough time to win a championship?

Finals Bound?

The 76ers have had some great seasons lately but there is a good chance that this version of the team’s lineup is the best they’ve had in decades.

Philadelphia was already bound for the playoffs but the addition of Harden means they have a legitimate chance of going all the way to the Finals.

Embiid has been MVP-worthy, the rest of the squad has been stepping up, and Harden will add a much-needed boost to the offense.

The fact that he plans to stay around for at least next season too is extra good news because it means that even if things don’t pan out like planned this year, they have another shot at going all the way next season.

Harden hasn’t yet played a game for Philly so it remains to be seen how this new team works as a unit but there is every reason to believe they could be something incredibly special.
