Lamar @ Texas Tech

Current Records: Lamar 1-5; Texas Tech 5-0

What to Know

It looks like Lamar got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 79-73 to the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners.

As for Texas Tech, they can’t say they have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. They steamrolled past the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks 96-40 at home. Texas Tech can attribute much of their success to guard Terrence Shannon Jr., who had 18 points, and guard Mylik Wilson, who had eight points. Wilson hadn’t helped his team much against the Incarnate Word Cardinals on Saturday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

Lamar have to know they’ll be fighting an uphill battle given the 27.50 point spread they are up against. Those betting on them against the spread shouldn’t have high expectations for them since the squad is 1-3 ATS when expected to lose.

The Cardinals are now 1-5 while the Red Raiders sit at 5-0. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Lamar is stumbling into the game with the sixth fewest takeaways in college basketball, having accrued only 10.3 on average. To make matters even worse for Lamar, Texas Tech ranks sixth in college basketball when it comes to takeaways, with 20.6 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked in Texas Tech’s favor.

Mina Kimes Says The Chargers Have 1 Glaring Need In The Draft

The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the most talented teams in the NFL, with a quarterback considered to be elite in only his first few years in the league, as Justin Herbert has proven his worth and then some.

Unfortunately, the Chargers have infamously been unable to get it done when they need to get it done the most: in the NFL playoffs.

That’s a pretty big problem, and ESPN’s Mina Kimes thinks she knows how that can start to get fixed, with the team in desperate need of speed and a deep threat for Herbert downfield.

With the 2023 NFL Draft less than a month away, the Chargers are almost certainly doing their due diligence on the offensive talent available, with wide receiver potentially being a point of emphasis.

Herbert is the team’s best asset, and he could be around for the next decade or more, which means the team needs to build around him while giving him the weapons he needs to succeed, especially in a stacked AFC West division.

As Kimes points out, the draft is filled with talented prospects at the wide receiver position.

Quentin Johnston, Jordan Addison, Zay Flowers and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are a few of those talented wide receivers available in the draft that the Chargers should look at, as one of these players could be the missing piece to opening up the offense in Los Angeles.

The Chargers are currently sitting at No. 21 in the first round of the upcoming draft and should be able to grab one of the four wideouts mentioned if they decide to go that route.
