Current Records: Ohio State 3-2; Seton Hall 3-0

What to Know

OSU was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Thursday as they fell 71-65 to the Xavier Musketeers. One thing holding OSU back was the mediocre play of guard Malaki Branham, who did not have his best game: he finished with only seven points on 3-for-11 shooting in his 28 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, Seton Hall sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-65 victory over the Michigan Wolverines on Tuesday. Guard Jared Rhoden (16 points) was the top scorer for Seton Hall.

The Buckeyes are now 3-2 while the Pirates sit at 3-0. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: OSU ranks 27th in college basketball when it comes to blocked shots per game, with six on average. But Seton Hall is even better: they enter the matchup with 6.7 blocked shots per game on average, good for 16th best in college basketball. Points in the paint might be hard to come by.
