What to Know
After two games on the road, the San Diego Toreros are heading back home. They will take on the California Riverside Highlanders at 10:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Jenny Craig Pavilion. San Diego has the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency.
The Toreros were within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap on Monday as they fell 75-70 to the California Golden Bears. San Diego got double-digit scores from four players: guard Jase Townsend (16), guard Joey Calcaterra (15), forward Terrell Brown (11), and guard Bryce Monroe (10).
Meanwhile, California Riverside didn’t have too much trouble with the La Sierra Golden Eagles at home on Sunday as they won 72-54.
California Riverside’s win lifted them to 2-1 while San Diego’s loss dropped them down to 2-1. If California Riverside want to win, they will need to focus on stopping San Diego’s Terrell Brown, who posted a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds in addition to five blocks, and Jase Townsend, who had 16 points. We’ll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
