What to Know

The Old Dominion Monarchs will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Old Dominion and the UAB Blazers will face off in a Conference USA battle at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday at Chartway Arena. The teams split their matchups last year, with UAB winning the first 76-69 at home on the road and the Monarchs taking the second 65-58.

The matchup between Old Dominion and the Middle Tenn. Blue Raiders on Thursday was not a total blowout, but with Old Dominion falling 63-48 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. A silver lining for Old Dominion was the play of forward Austin Trice, who posted a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Trice has had at least ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Blazers entered their contest on Thursday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to the hype. Everything went their way against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as they made off with an 84-63 win. UAB can attribute much of their success to guard Jordan Walker, who had 25 points and eight assists.

The Monarchs are now 9-15 while UAB sits at 19-5. A pair of offensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Old Dominion is stumbling into the game with the 43rd fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 65.8 on average. The Blazers’ offense has more to brag about, as they they come into the contest boasting the eighth most points per game in college basketball at 81.4.
