Current Records: Toledo 5-5; Ohio 3-7

What to Know

The Ohio Bobcats and the Toledo Rockets are set to square off in a Mid-American matchup at 7 p.m. ET Nov. 16 at Peden Stadium. The defensive coordinators will surely put in extra hours ahead of this game since these teams’ offenses combined for 1,037 yards this week.

The Bobcats were able to grind out a solid win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Tuesday, winning 34-26. Ohio’s QB Kurtis Rourke did his thing and passed for three TDs and 230 yards on 17 attempts in addition to picking up 55 yards on the ground. Near the top of the highlight reel was Rourke’s 66-yard TD bomb to WR Cameron Odom in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Toledo ran circles around the Bowling Green Falcons on Wednesday, and the extra yardage (539 yards vs. 194 yards) paid off. The Rockets blew past Bowling Green 49-17. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-10. QB Dequan Finn continued his habit of dropping crazy stat lines, passing for three TDs and 270 yards on 24 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 30 yards. Finn’s 59-yard touchdown toss to WR Danzel McKinley-Lewis in the second quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night.

Ohio is now 3-7 while Toledo sits at 5-5. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Bobcats are stumbling into the matchup with the 222nd most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 21 on the season. The Rockets have experienced some struggles of their own as they are 146th worst in the nation in passing touchdowns allowed, with 12 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.

Despite finishing the 2022 NFL season with a winning record of 9-8, the Pittsburgh Steelers fell short of the NFL playoffs, which is not something common in the Mike Tomlin era.

Although ultimately, it was a disappointing season, it is time to move on for the storied NFL franchise and look toward what could be a promising future with Kenny Pickett under center and Tomlin still running the show on the sideline.

As part of the Steelers’ effort to bounce back, the team has added an addition to the defense.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Steelers have agreed to a two-year deal with safety Keanu Neal.

The one-time Pro Bowler played the majority of his career with the Atlanta Falcons, who drafted Florida product with the 17th overall pick in 2016.

During the last two seasons, Neal spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being with the Falcons for the first five years of his NFL career.

Neal started eight of 17 games he played for the Buccaneers last year, recording 63 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed.

In 2023, the Steelers will look to get back to form as one of the best teams in the AFC and might have the edge in the AFC North division.

The Cleveland Browns still don’t know what they really have with Deshaun Watson and the Baltimore Ravens appear to be well on their way to losing Lamar Jackson, who wants to get paid or get traded to a team that will pay him.
