It was a close one, but on Friday the Panthers sidestepped the Green Bay Phoenix for a 63-60 victory.

Speaking of close games: UNCG was close but no cigar on Friday as they fell 93-90 to the Massachusetts Minutemen. Four players on UNCG scored in the double digits: guard Kaleb Hunter (18), guard Dante Treacy (16), forward Mohammed Abdulsalam (14), and guard De’Monte Buckingham (14). De’Monte Buckingham’s performance made up for a slower game against Green Bay on Thursday.

Florida International is now 3-1 while the Spartans sit at 4-1. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Panthers have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 34.50%, which places them 22nd in college basketball. UNCG is not quite as good, but they are no chumps, either: they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 35.10%, which places them 28th in college basketball.
