What to Know
The Duquesne Dukes will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Duquesne and the Fordham Rams will face off in an Atlantic 10 battle at 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season averages.
Things couldn’t have gone much worse for the Dukes as they lost 75-54 to the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday. One thing holding Duquesne back was the mediocre play of guard Amir Spears, who did not have his best game: he played for 37 minutes with and four turnovers.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough game for Fordham on Tuesday, and boy were they were right. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 76-51 walloping at the St. Bonaventure Bonnies’ hands. The top scorer for Fordham was guard Antrell Charlton (14 points).
Duquesne is now 6-15 while the Rams sit at 10-12. A couple numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Dukes have allowed their opponents to shoot 46.80% from the floor on average, which is the ninth highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. Fordham has experienced some struggles of their own as they have only been able to knock down 40.30% percent of their shots, which is the 17th lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
