What to Know

The Crimson Tide and Arkansas will face off in an SEC battle at noon ET at Coleman Coliseum. The teams split their matchups last year, with Bama winning the first 90-59 at home and the Razorbacks taking the second 81-66.

Bama strolled past the Ole Miss Rebels with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the matchup 97-83. Bama relied on the efforts of guard JD Davison, who had 18 points and eight assists, and guard Jaden Shackelford, who shot 8-for-13 from beyond the arc and finished with 30 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, it was a close one, but on Tuesday Arkansas sidestepped the Auburn Tigers for an 80-76 win. It was another big night for Arkansas’ guard JD Notae, who had 28 points in addition to five rebounds and four blocks.

The Crimson Tide are the favorite in this one, with an expected 5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 6-13 against the spread when favored.

Bama is now 15-9 while Arkansas sits at 19-5. Two offensive stats to keep an eye on: Bama ranks 11th in college basketball when it comes to points per game, with 80.9 on average. Arkansas has displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they come into the contest boasting the 11th most points per game in college basketball at 78.6. On Wednesday, the struggling New York Mets were dealt a tough blow when slugger and first baseman Pete Alonso was hit on the hand with a 97-mph fastball from Atlanta Braves starter Charlie Morton.

Alonso was forced to exit the game as a result.

The slugger is now headed to the injured list.

However, Alonso’s temporary replacement is a familiar face.

On Friday, the Mets called up utility infielder Luis Guillorme from Triple-A.

He will join the team in Pittsburgh on Friday before they kick off a three-game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

SNY, the TV home of the Mets announced the news on Twitter.

Guillorme made his Major League debut in 2018 with the Mets.

The 28-year-old was selected in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

He appeared in 102 games last season with the Mets.

In those games, the 28-year-old utilityman hit for a .273 average with two home runs and 17 RBI.

This season, he hasn’t had the same luck.

His average sits at a disappointing .233 through his first 27 games of the year.

However, he is reaching base at a .324 clip.

Guillorme can also play multiple positions in the infield and could potentially fill in at first base while Alonso recovers.

The Mets could also potentially give Eduardo Escobar some reps at first.

But with Alonso out, the Mets have been forced to get creative with their roster.

Guillorme will look to help provide a spark for a struggling Mets team that has now lost six games in a row.
