The final full week of the 2021 college football regular season has arrived and it brings another loaded schedule for CBS Sports Network. Action begins Friday afternoon with a MAC showdown between Bowling Green and Ohio and continues until late Saturday night, when Nevada and Colorado State square off in a Mountain West clash.

Also in action on Saturday will be No. 24 Houston, which caps its regular season by traveling to play UConn before it plays No. 4 Cincinnati in the AAC Championship Game next week. The biggest game on the CBS Sports Network docket for the weekend, however, comes from Conference USA, as Marshall and Western Kentucky pit their contrasting strengths against each other.

The Thundering Herd and Hilltoppers will be playing for a spot in next week’s Conference USA Championship Game as WKU looks to snap a four-game losing streak in the series with their C-USA East foe.

Here is the full rundown of all the Week 13 action on CBS Sports Network with all times Eastern.

No. 24 Houston at UConn

Date: Saturday, Nov. 27 | Time: 12 p.m.
Location: Pratt & Whitney Stadium — East Hartford, Connecticut

Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App
Spread: Houston -32.5 | Will the Cougars cover the spread? Check out SportsLine’s Week 13 college football projections here.

Storylines: Houston gets a tuneup game here before it plays Cincinnati in the AAC Championship Game next week in what will be a showdown of national significance. The Cougars have won 10 straight since losing their opener 38-21 to Texas Tech and should have no problems with a UConn team that is 1-10. The Huskies’ lone win came against Yale of the FCS.

Western Kentucky at Marshall

Date: Saturday, Nov. 27 | Time: 3:30 p.m.
Location: Joan C. Edwards Stadium — Huntington, West Virginia
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App
Spread: Marshall -1 | Will the Thundering Herd cover the spread? Check out SportsLine’s Week 13 college football projections here.

Storylines: A spot in the Conference USA title game is on the line as these teams square off for the East Division title. The Hilltoppers lead the nation in passing offense at 433.6 yards per game through the air, but they are facing a Marshall defense ranked 16th nationally in passing yards allowed at 187.5 yards passing per game. The contrast in styles with such high stakes should make for a compelling game.

Nevada at Colorado State

Date: Saturday, Nov. 27 | Time: 9 p.m.
Location: Canvas Stadium — Fort Collins, Colorado
TV: CBS Sports Network [Channel finder
Live stream: CBSSports.com | Mobile: CBS Sports App
Spread: Nevada -4 | Will the Wolf Pack cover the spread? Check out SportsLine’s Week 13 college football projections here.

Storylines: The Rams have dropped five straight since winning consecutive games in October and are now 3-8. At 7-4, Nevada has had a much better season, but the Wolf Pack are also on a slide, having lost consecutive games against quality foes Air Force and San Diego State by a total of four points. But with a win against Colorado State and a bowl victory, Nevada can still finish with nine wins, which would be its most in a season since 2010.

Lakers’ LeBron James upgraded from out to doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. Bulls

Published

on

LeBron James could be inching closer to a return to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup.

James, who hasn’t played since Feb. 26 due to an injury to his left foot, has been upgraded from out to doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bulls.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday that the Lakers are optimistic James will return for the final few games of the regular season.

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer is averaging 29.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists this season.

Los Angeles (37-37) is eighth in the Western Conference and riding a three-game winning streak.

Ivan Ivan, Evan Vierling among CHL overage players being eyed by NHL teams

Published

on

Ivan Ivan, Evan Vierling, Logan Dowhaniuk and Aidan De La Gorgendiere are among the CHL overage players being eyed by NHL teams, according to Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek.

Ivan, a 20-year-old centre with the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles, scored 33 goals and 90 points in 64 games this season. The native of Ostrava, Czechia, is being pursued by six teams, according to Marek.

Vierling, a centre from Aurora, Ont., is also particularly intriguing.

“[He] was once upon a time a draft pick of the New York Rangers [and] didn’t assign,” Marek said during Saturday’s 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada. “Tearing up the OHL [with] 95 points for the Barrie Colts. Went to Columbus [Blue Jackets] camp last season — they almost signed him. He’ll get picked up this year for sure.”

Dowhaniuk, a defenceman, was traded to the WHL’s Moose Jaw Warriors from the Edmonton Oil Kings in December. He potted four goals and 17 points in 39 games for the Saskatchewan club.

De La Gorgendiere, also a defenceman, enjoyed a strong season with the Saskatoon Blades, scoring 12 goals and 65 points in 65 games. His 155 career points with the Blades ties him with Wendel Clark for tenth in all-time points by a defenceman in team history.
