Fantasy Football Week 10 Tight End Preview: Dallas Goedert frustrating, but probably a buy low

Published

on

With Zach Ertz in Arizona, Dallas Goedert was supposed to finally be freed. In some ways, he has been. After all, his 28.6% target share since Week 7 ranks second among all tight ends and leads the Eagles

At the same time, Goedert has averaged a mediocre 10.17 PPR Fantasy points per game in those three weeks, just barely outpacing Ertz over the same stretch. For the season, Goedert ranks 12th at the position in Fantasy points per game, but he’s closer to Evan Engram in 23rd than he is to Kyle Pitts in 10th. It’s fair to say he’s been one of the disappointments at the position, even since Ertz’s departure.

The problems are various. For one thing, he hasn’t scored since Ertz left and only has two touchdowns on the season. Then again, his 5.4% touchdown rate doesn’t exactly scream regression when Jalen Hurts has a modest four percent career rate himself.

The second problem is that while Goedert’s share of the pie has skyrocketed, the size of the pie itself has shrunk in spectacular fashion. Hurts has attempted just 31 passes over the past two weeks. Again, like the lack of recent touchdowns, that should improve. I’d expect a minimum of 25 pass attempts per game for the Eagles from this point forward.

With that type of volume, Goedert would see seven targets per game at his recent target rate. At that point, it becomes a question of whether he performs at the rate he has this year (10.8 yards per target) or his career (8.0 yards per target) and how many touchdowns he scores.

For now, Goedert looks more like the borderline No. 1 tight end he’s been with Ertz than the top-six breakout we expected when Ertz was dealt. I would expect that to change before the end of the year, but I’m not sure it does in Week 10.

Here’s everything else you need to know about tight end in Week 10:

Week 10 TE Preview

The following players are not being projected to play Week 10 at this time. Here’s what it means:

  • 13Tyler Higbee leads all tight ends with 13 red zone targets.
  • 0 — The Saints, Vikings, and Broncos have still not allowed a touchdown to a tight end this season.
  • 30.8% — Kyle Pitts’ 30.8% air yards share is tops among tight ends.
  • 19%Cole Kmet has the sixth-highest target share amongst tight ends and a very good schedule coming out of the bye.
  • 48.5Pat Freiermuth has scored 48.5 PPR points since Week 6. That makes him TE3, and he had his bye in that stretch.
  • 4Hunter Henry hasn’t seen more than four targets in a game since Week 5.

Lamar Jackson Has Big Reaction To Ravens’ List Of Injured Players

Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season featured several upsets and unfortunately the Baltimore Ravens were on the wrong end of one as they were stunned by the Indianapolis Colts in overtime.

The Ravens were in control early in the game as they were able to get pressure on backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, but the team let their foot off the gas pedal and allowed the Colts to force overtime.

Lamar Jackson looked more like his usual self as he was able to find running lanes and gash the Indianapolis defense on the ground.

However, his running heroics weren’t enough as the Colts were able to limit the rest of his weapons.

Jackson and the Ravens came into the game shorthanded on both sides as the team’s been dealing with numerous injuries.

With the number of players on the sidelines growing, Jackson couldn’t help but post a reaction via his Twitter account.

J.K. Dobbins was lost for the year after rupturing his Achilles while Justice Hill was ruled out against Indianapolis.

Meanwhile, Gus Edwards was knocked out of the game due to a concussion, forcing Baltimore to lean on Melvin Gordon and Kenyan Drake who were elevated from the practice squad.

On the defensive side, the secondary was hurting as they were without Marlon Humphrey, Damarion Williams, Trayvon Mullen, and Marcus Williams.

With so many key players dealing with some sort of ailment, the Ravens are going to have to find a way to hold down the fort until reinforcements come.

For now, Baltimore’s going to have to try and bounce back in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.

Insider Says 1 Team Is Genuinely Interested In Damian Lillard

The Portland Trail Blazers are running out of time to trade superstar Damian Lillard.

Portland has reportedly been trying to find a deal for Lillard before the start of training camp, but because of their high asking price, they’ve been unable to find a trade partner.

The Miami Heat have long been considered to be the most likely team to land Lillard, though they don’t have the required assets to entice the Trail Blazers.

With Miami unable to make an attractive enough offer, Portland’s been entertaining other teams’ interest.

There have been several teams who have reportedly shown interest in Lillard, including the Toronto Raptors.

Toronto has a history of being unafraid to trade for a star and it appears they’re serious about exploring the possibility of acquiring Lillard via NBA insider Marc Stein.

“The Toronto Raptors have convinced numerous teams around the league that their interest in trading for Lillard is genuine,” Stein said.

Masai Ujiri shocked the NBA when he decided to go after Kawhi Leonard and his gamble worked as the Raptors won their first-ever NBA Championship.

With a win-now roster headlined by Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, Ujiri could be angling to trade for Lillard and see if he can repeat his luck.

However, as Stein notes it seems as though Lillard isn’t interested in going to Toronto and remains steadfast in trying to make his way to Miami.

With training camp a few weeks away, it’ll be interesting to see what Portland ends up doing with its All-Star guard.
