Lions running back D’Andre Swift will not return to Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day game after sustaining a shoulder injury. Swift left the game in the second quarter after getting tackled near the sideline by Bears linebacker Roquan Smith. Swift was initially ruled as questionable to return.

The 35th overall pick in the 2020 draft, Swift is having a highly-successful second season in Detroit. He entered Thursday’s game with 555 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Swift also caught 43 passes for 420 yards and two touchdowns. Swift is coming off his two best games of the season. He ran for 130 yards on 33 carries in the Lions’ Week 10 tie in Pittsburgh. Swift ran for 136 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries in last Sunday’s loss in Cleveland. In 13 games last season, Swift has tallied 878 total yards and 10 touchdowns.

Detroit’s second-leading rusher is Jamaal Williams, who signed with the Lions this offseason after staring his career with the Packers. A fifth-year veteran, Williams entered Thursday’s game with 323 yards and two touchdowns on 78 carries.

The Lions led the Bears 7-0 at the time of Swift’s exit but allowed a touchdown moments later on Jimmy Graham’s first touchdown catch of the season. Detroit is 0-9-1 under first year head coach Dan Campbell. Four of the Lions’ losses have come in one-possession games that includes Sunday’s 13-10 loss in Cleveland.
