What you need to know about Air Force

The Falcons fought the good fight in their 21-14 overtime loss to the Army West Point Black Knights last Saturday. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Air Force was outplayed the rest of the way. A silver lining for them was the play of QB Haaziq Daniels, who passed for 226 yards and one TD on 22 attempts, in addition to picking up 54 yards on the ground.

Air Force has won four straight games over Colorado State with all but one of those wins coming in blowout fashion. The Falcons’ triple option attack presents a tough matchup for any opposing defense, but it could be absolutely lethal against a Colorado State defense that got physically dominated by Wyoming, allowing the Cowboys to rush for a whopping 385 yards and two touchdowns.

What you need to know about Colorado State

Meanwhile, Colorado State came up short against the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday, falling 31-17. The losing side was boosted by WR Dante Wright, who snatched two receiving TDs.

The Rams have arguably the best tight end in the country in Trey McBride, and he should digit targets on Saturday night. McBride presents a major matchup problem for the Air Force defense. For CSU to have any chance at coming away with a win, they’ll need to be much better against the run. A loss would knock the Rams out of postseason contention.

How to make Air Force vs. Colorado State picks

The model has simulated Colorado State vs. Air Force 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning under on the point total, and it’s also generated a point-spread pick that is hitting in over 50 percent of simulations. You can only see the model’s CSU-AFA pick at SportsLine.

So who wins Colorado State vs. Air Force? And which side of the spread hits in over 50 percent of simulations? Visit SportsLine right now to see which side of the spread you need to jump on, all from the computer model that has crushed its college football picks, and find out.

The Orioles Are Celebrating A Special Birthday Monday

Published

Adley Rutschman represents hope for Baltimore Orioles fans.

He is everything a franchise can hope for in a franchise player: charismatic, a great teammate, likes to be around fans, and above all things, supremely talented.

Since taking over as the O’s catcher, the team has a positive record.

In fact, he helped transform the whole organizational culture and turned the Orioles into winners after taking over with the team holding a 16-24 record.

He is turning 25 today and already has a 5.3 WAR season.

WAR means Wins Above Replacement and tells us how much better (or worse) a player is relative to the replacement-level player.

He was recently hanging out with Orioles fans, who absolutely adore him and wish him a happy birthday.

More than anything, they wish Rutschman can remain in the organization until he retires.

We haven’t seen a young player be considered a young leader since the Adam Jones and Manny Machado days, and that seems like a long time ago.

Rutschman is certainly capable of big things.

In his first season in The Show, he was among the league’s best framers, he hit .254/.362/.445, he homered 13 times and doubled 35 more.

His ability to communicate, motivate, and guide his pitchers is what makes him truly great, though.

The Orioles changed not just offensively when he arrived: their pitchers started to reach their potential in part thanks to him.

The overall impact of his arrival can be compared with just a handful of players in recent years.

The O’s have a chance to compete and make the playoffs in 2023, but only if Rutschman is healthy.

Jalen Ramsey Laid A Big Hit At The Pro Bowl

Published

The NFL’s iteration of the 2023 Pro Bowl was vastly different from the festivities in years past.

This year, there were many different competitions, from the longest drive contest, all the way to a kicking “Tic Tac Toe” game.

The weekend was capped off with a flag football game.

At least, it was supposed to be.

Somebody should have told Jalen Ramsey that this was a flag football game.

In a play that resulted in a touchdown for the AFC, Ramsey hit Tyreek Hill at almost full force, which sent NFL media into a whirlwind.

While most fans were excited about this hit, there were a few that criticized Ramsey for his lack of gamesmanship.

Thankfully for Ramsey, it appears that Hill wasn’t injured by this play, as he got up immediately.

Moving forward, however, the league could institute some sort of penalty for hitting a player at all, especially with consideration to the fact that the players weren’t wearing pads.

The Pro Bowl was supposed to be more exciting this season, given the new events that took place.

However, it was met with mixed reviews from fans across the league and could change again for the 2023 season.

The good news for the league is that players seemed to enjoy themselves, which had not necessarily been the case in years past.

The Pro Bowl has been tertiary to NBA and NHL All-Star Games for the past several years.

Will their new changes vault them ahead of either league in overall popularity?

Yadier Molina Holds A Massive Lead In An Important Category

Published

Things are going to be quite a bit different for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2023.

Yadier Molina, their rock behind the plate since 2005, retired along with Albert Pujols at the end of the 2022 season.

While his longtime batterymate Adam Wainwright will stick around for one more season, the Cardinals will have a different look with Willson Contreras behind the plate.

What may never be matched again is Molina’s ability to shut down the running game, catching base-stealers in their tracks.

In fact, since 2005, Molina’s first full season behind the dish, the Cardinals have allowed the fewest stolen bases in all of baseball, and by a pretty wide margin.

This ultimately speaks to the ability of Molina to throw out runners attempting to steal a base.

With him gone, we may see teams run a little bit more frequently against the Cardinals.

Running on Molina was simply a fool’s errand.

It was almost a guarantee that Molina would be able to stop any runner attempting to steal.

In second place on the list of fewest stolen bases allowed is the Arizona Diamondbacks.

But they certainly are not a close second by any means.

In fact, 2-5 on the list are tightly packed.

The Cardinals are at the top by a very large margin, and it ultimately goes to show just what Molina could do behind the plate, even in the latter years of his career.

St. Louis will certainly miss having No. 4 behind home plate, and it’ll be something that fans will have to get used to as well.
