College football odds, lines, bets, top predictions for Week 13, 2021: Model picks Oklahoma State, Oregon

Published

on

The College Football Playoff committee could have a tough decision to make if No. 3 Alabama loses to No. 1 Georgia in the SEC title game next week. None of that will matter unless the Crimson Tide survives a trip to Auburn for the 2021 Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon, though. The Tigers are without starting quarterback Bo Nix (ankle), which is a factor in why Alabama is a 20.5-point favorite in the latest Week 13 college football odds at Caesars Sportsbook. Georgia (-35) is expected to roll in its meeting against Georgia Tech during the Week 13 college football schedule.

Another game with playoff implications will take place on Saturday night when No. 6 Notre Dame travels to Stanford as a 19.5-point favorite. The Fighting Irish need to impress the committee with style points, so should you be laying the lumber with Notre Dame? Before making any Week 13 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the latest college football predictions and betting advice from SportsLine’s proven model.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Over the past five-plus years, the proprietary computer model has generated a stunning profit of almost $3,700 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It also enters Week 13 of the 2021 season on a 39-25 run on all top-rated college football side picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen huge returns.

Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 13 college football odds from Caesars and locked in picks for every FBS matchup. Head here to see every pick.

Top Week 13 college football predictions

One of the top college football picks the model is recommending for Week 13: No. 7 Oklahoma State (-4.5) covers against No. 10 Oklahoma in the Bedlam Series 2021 rivalry matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The Cowboys have a chance to sneak into the playoff if they can close the regular season with a win and add another quality victory in the Big 12 title game. They have won four straight games since suffering a 24-21 loss at Iowa State in late October. Oklahoma State has covered the spread in five consecutive games and is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games.

The Cowboys have the third-ranked defense in the country, allowing just 267.5 yards per game. They are facing an Oklahoma offense that put up just 14 points in its last road game, which came against Baylor on Nov. 13. SportsLine’s model has Oklahoma State covering the spread in 60 percent of simulations, while the over (49.5) is hitting almost 60 percent of the time.

Another one of the college football predictions from the model: No.11  Oregon (-7) takes care of business against Oregon State in a 3:30 p.m. ET matchup on Saturday. The two-loss Ducks are no longer at the forefront of the College Football Playoff conversation, but they can still finish inside the top 10 this season. They had won five straight games prior to their loss at Utah last week. Oregon State has been atrocious on the road this season, losing four of its five games away from home.

SportsLine’s model is not projecting a good day for Oregon State quarterback Chance Nolan, who is expected to throw for fewer than 200 yards and add an interception. The model is much higher on Oregon quarterback Anthony Brown, projecting 225 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks’ signal-caller. Oregon is covering the spread in almost 60 percent of simulations, while the under (60.5) is also cashing almost 60 percent of the time.

How to make Week 13 college football picks

The model has also made the call on who wins and covers in every other game on the Week 13 college football schedule, and it’s also calling for a top College Football Playoff contender to get a huge scare from a big underdog. You can only get every pick for every game at SportsLine.

So what college football picks can you make with confidence? And which underdog do you need to jump on now? Check out the latest college football odds below, then visit SportsLine to see which teams win and cover the spread, all from a proven computer model that has returned almost $3,700 in profit over the past five-plus seasons, and find out.

Guardians clinch first AL Central title since 2018; White Sox called out by acting manager after latest loss

Published

The Cleveland Guardians defeated the Texas Rangers on Sunday (box score), extending their winning streak to seven and clinching the American League Central title . The Guardians technically secured their first division title since 2018 when the Chicago White Sox lost to the Detroit Tigers — the Guardians entered Sunday with a nine-game lead over the White Sox and with 10 games left on the schedule, making the clinch an inevitability.

Cleveland can credit a few different players for the win on Sunday, including rookie outfielder Steven Kwan, who slugged a grand slam en route to collecting three hits and five runs batted in. Starter Aaron Civale, meanwhile, held the Rangers to two runs on three hits over the course of five innings.

The Guardians had dominated the Central from 2016-18, reeling off three consecutive division crowns. The years since haven’t been as kind, as they’d finished second or worse in the last three years. This marks their first playoff berth of any kind since the pandemic-altered 2020 campaign that featured a bloated postseason bracket.

It’s worth noting that the Guardians are the youngest team in the majors when weighted by playing time, according to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs. They’re just the eighth club to make the playoffs while owning that distinction, and the first since the 1986 New York Mets.

Cleveland, which will likely be the No. 3 seed in the AL postseason bracket, can celebrate after Sunday’s results, but the mood was more somber in Chicago. White Sox acting skipper Miguel Cairo railed on his club’s effort following Sunday’s defeat. “That’s not acceptable. That’s not baseball,” he told reporters, including James Fegan of The Athletic. Cairo is serving in place of Tony La Russa, whose medical concerns will keep him out for the rest of the year.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa briefly left Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, returning despite appearing to be disoriented by a head injury.

Tagovailoa hit his head on the turf and missed the Dolphins’ last three offensive snaps of the first half, then was back on the field for the start of the second half after evaluation for what the team announced as a head injury.

Tagovailoa was facing a third-and-3 play from the Miami 21 when he scrambled and found Jaylen Waddle for an 8-yard gain. After releasing the ball, Tagovailoa got hit — a two-hand push in the chest — by Buffalo linebacker Matt Milano, who was flagged for roughing the passer.

Tagovailoa fell backward, the back of his helmet bouncing off the grass. He remained down for a few seconds, then rolled to his feet, jogged forward a few steps and stumbled to the ground again briefly.

A pair of offensive linemen held him up at that point, ensuring he wouldn’t fall again, and Dolphins’ medical personnel ran onto the field to check him further. They walked him off the field, directly into the tunnel leading to the Miami locker room area.

On the first play of the second half, Tagovailoa found Tyreek Hill for a 22-yard gain and showed no ill effects from the hit.

He was initially ruled doubtful to return and ultimately would not re-enter the game.

Montgomery rushed three times for 11 yard before exiting.

The fourth-year pro was replaced by Khalil Herbert.
