Carlos Correa: Derek Jeter ‘didn’t deserve any’ of his five Gold Gloves

New York Yankees fans already tend to not love Houston Astros players, and the latest comment from current free agent and former Astors star shortstop Carlos Correa will only upset them more. While on the “Me Gustan Los Deportes” podcast last week with former MLB second baseman Carlos Baerga, Correa said the Yankees’ legendary shortstop Derek Jeter did not deserve any of the five Gold Glove Awards he took home during his playing days..

Correa was very critical as he gave his opinions on Jeter’s defense. Here’s what he said:

“Derek Jeter, how many Gold Gloves did he win? Five, I think he won. … Derek Jeter didn’t deserve any.”

Jeter was awarded the American League Gold Glove in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2010, but he wouldn’t have won any if it was up to Correa. The free agent — who the Yankees may sign, by the way — backed up his critiques of Jeter with fielding analytics.

He mentioned Jeter’s minus-165 Defensive Runs Saved. Correa has a DRS of 67 in his seven years in Houston.

The 27-year-old Correa is coming off a World Series loss to the Atlanta Braves. Now, Correa is a free agent and the Yankees could be looking to add him to their squad. If that happens, maybe Yankees fans will forget that he dissed their former captain.

Sauce Gardner Speaks On Mac Jones’ Controversial Hit

For the second consecutive week in a row, the New York Jets find themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard as they lost to the New England Patriots 15-10.

Just like their showing against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, the Jets struggled to move the football as Zach Wilson managed to only complete 18 of his 36 pass attempts for 157 yards.

The running game wasn’t much better either as Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook combined for just 36 yards on the ground on 20 attempts.

Life has been tough without Aaron Rodgers under center, but the defense has given New York ample opportunities to win games.

The Jets defense limited the Patriots to 15 points on the afternoon, though that apparently wasn’t enough to give them the win.

Sauce Gardner found himself in a scuffle with Mac Jones who hit him below the belt and the defensive back had a hilarious reaction afterwards via Ari Meirov.

“He’s trying to prevent me from having kids in the future,” Gardner said.

Getting hit in the groin area is a painful experience for any athlete and it happened when tempers started to flare between the two teams.

The AFC East looks like it might belong to the Miami Dolphins after they blew out the Denver Broncos, but there’s still bad blood amongst the other teams in the division.

Although this isn’t the first time Jones has been accused of a dirty hit, the fact remains that the Jets are going to really have to find a way to pull themselves together before the regular season gets away from them.

Mike McDaniel Makes A Clear Statement On Dolphins Not Breaking NFL Record

The Miami Dolphins‘ offense has been one of the most fun units to watch so far during the 2023 NFL season and they managed to outdo themselves with a beatdown of the Denver Broncos in Week 3.

The Dolphins scored 70 points and recorded 726 yards of total offense during the afternoon, showing just how dangerous they can be when everything is clicking on all cylinders.

Miami didn’t have Jaylen Waddle available as he was ruled out with a concussion, but that didn’t stop Tua Tagovailoa and the running backs from carving up the sad Denver defense.

It truly was one of the most exciting performances from a team during the early part of the season and fans could very well never see another 70-point performance again.

The Dolphins actually had a chance to break the NFL’s all-time scoring record by kicking a field goal late in the game, but Mike McDaniels decided to kneel it out instead.

When asked about his decision, McDaniels said that he didn’t mind missing out on the record and that his players agreed with him via Grant Gordon of NFL Media.

“I will be fine getting second-guessed by turning down NFL records. That’s fine. I’m very OK with the decision. And I think the team, notably the leaders of the team, supported it,” McDaniels said.

McDaniels’ decision is a classy act considering he very well could have continued to embarrass the Broncos and really put a damper on their season.

However, it seems that he was content with the win and how well his team played and that should generally be enough for most head coaches.

It’s hard to imagine any defense being able to stop the Dolphins from scoring and they’re definitely looking like a Super Bowl contender.
