What to Know
The Butler Bulldogs will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Butler and the #8 Providence Friars will face off in a Big East battle at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they’ll have plenty of motivation to get the ‘W.’
It’s never fun to lose, and it’s even less fun to lose 91-57, which was the final score in Butler’s tilt against the St. John’s Red Storm this past Friday. Guard Chuck Harris wasn’t much of a difference maker for the Bulldogs; Harris finished with only eight points on 3-for-13 shooting in his 26 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, the Friars entered their contest against the Villanova Wildcats last Tuesday without any home losses — but there’s a first time for everything. Providence was within striking distance but couldn’t close the gap as they fell 89-84 to Villanova. Providence’s defeat came about despite a quality game from center Nate Watson, who had 20 points in addition to six rebounds.
Butler is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. Their home court has been no bettor’s paradise, as they’ve failed to beat the spread in nine of their 14 home games.
