DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls is having a once-in-a-lifetime sort of season that is blowing peoples’ minds.

One of the many people he is impressing happens to be his teammate, Alex Caruso.

On Wednesday, DeRozan broke a major record and Caruso was beside himself with admiration.

DeRozan officially broke a record set by Wilt Chamberlain for the most consecutive games with more than 35 points on 50 percent or better shooting.

The MVP candidate put up 38 points Wednesday, which was his seventh consecutive game with 35 or more points.

Beyond the stats and the history, DeRozan is creating a mind-blowing year.

“Speechless”

After surpassing Chamberlain in the history books, DeRozan was genuinely shocked by what he had accomplished.

He spoke with ESPN and summed it up well:

“Just to be in the record books along with staples of basketball history — [I’m] speechless. As a kid, as a fan of the history of the game, being in the league as long as I’ve been in the league, things like that continue to make me even more humble.

It’s something I’ll never take for granted. And the crazy thing is, I feel like I missed eight easy shots I normally would have made. I felt like I had a bad shooting night, honestly.”

There are other impressive stats that DeRozan has racked up.

He has scored at least 30 points in eight consecutive games, the longest streak by a Chicago player since Michael Jordan back in 1996.

DeRozan’s hard work is really paying off: his Bulls are now tied with the Miami Heat for the first spot in the Eastern Conference.

The team has had a few rough patches this season but now has its best chance of making the Finals in years.

It is undeniable that DeRozan is a major part of that success.
