Bills Analyst Highlights The Elite Play Of Jordan Poyer

The Buffalo Bills have a budding defensive superstar on their hands.

Jordan Poyer was one of the Bills’ best players this season and makes an instant impact whenever he steps on the field.

Not only were the Bills 13-1 in games that Poyer played, but he has shown that he is a true team player, and has worked tirelessly to ensure that he is on the field whenever possible.

This tireless work was on display in mid-October, when the Bills were slated to play the Kansas City Chiefs on the road, but he was not cleared by team doctors to fly.

So, in true Poyer fashion, he drove over 15 hours from Buffalo to Kansas City and was able to participate in the game as a result.

Poyer is the definition of a team player and continues to show his allegiance to the Bills.

Will the Bills re-sign him for 2023 and beyond?

In 2022, a contract year for Poyer, he racked up 63 total tackles, one forced fumble, and four interceptions.

Poyer’s veteran leadership has proven valuable to the rest of the Bills defense, as they gave up the second-fewest points in the league to opposing teams.

The Bills look to grow on the success that they found in 2022.

Josh Allen has yet to bring the team to a Super Bowl, as he has been taken down by Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow in the last two seasons.

Allen and the rest of the Bills roster will look to get over this hump next season, finally breaking into the Super Bowl.

Newhook scores birthday goal, helps Avalanche double up Blues

Published

on

DENVER — Alex Newhook scored on his birthday for the second straight season, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the St. Louis Blues 4-2 on Saturday for their seventh win in eight games.

Evan Rodrigues, J.T. Compher and Matt Nieto also scored for Colorado, and Logan O’Connor had two assists. Alexandar Georgiev stopped 26 shots.

The Avalanche had won six in a row before Thursday night’s 5-3 loss to lowly Anaheim. But the reigning Stanley Cup champions bounced back nicely in their final game before their bye week and the NHL All-Star break.

The banged-up Avalanche (27-18-3) could get some key players back after they return. Defensemen Josh Manson and Bowen Byram have been sidelined with lower-body injuries, but they have started skating in non-contact jerseys.

Ivan Barbashev and Brayden Schenn scored for St. Louis (23-24-3) in its fourth consecutive loss. Jordan Binnington made 27 saves.

WNBA star Candace Parker announces she will join Las Vegas Aces

Published

on

WNBA star Candace Parker announced Saturday that she’s headed back west.

The forward-centre announced via her Instagram account that she is leaving the Chicago Sky and will join the defending-champion Las Vegas Aces.

“After evaluating the landscape together with my family, we’ve decided the Las Vegas Aces are the right organization for us at this point in our lives,” Parker said in her post.

The 36-year-old spent 13 of her 15-year career on the West Coast with the Los Angeles Sparks before inking a two-year deal with the Chicago Sky. She won a WNBA championship with the Sky in 2021.

“When I made the decision to go to Chicago in 2021, I made the decision to go home and be with my family in the place where it all began,” Parker said. “I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to win a championship in my hometown and parade down the same streets I watched the Bulls parade down as a young girl first falling in love with the game of basketball.

“As I’ve gone through free agency this time around, of course I’m thinking of where I can compete for my third championship, but the words home and family are what I kept coming back to. No different than when I signed with Chicago.”

The two-time champion and two-time WNBA MVP averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists last season with the Sky.
