Winning does have its perks, just ask Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor.

He may not have won the game’s biggest prize, but he has a talented team capable of returning to the Super Bowl.

For sure, he also earned several bonuses for their playoff victories.

However, the way he nurtured the young but talented team convinced team owner Mike Brown that he’s the mentor they need.

That said, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Taylor signed a contract extension that will keep him the Bengals head coach until the 2026 season.

He’s hoping that he can bring a Super Bowl game ball to a city that suffered three heartbreaking defeats in the big dance.

Brown feels that it’s only a matter of time before Taylor leads them to the promised land.

Bengals Will Rule The NFL Jungle

Terms of the extension were not disclosed, but he should earn higher than his current annual salary of $4.5 million given that he led the team to the Super Bowl.

However, the five years given to him is crucial because it coincides with the peak years of his players.

They were the youngest team to participate in the Super Bowl with an average age of 25.8 years.

Joe Burrow is the undisputed cornerstone of the offense as he showed tremendous poise as a second-year player.

Cincinnati also has a triple threat at wide receiver with Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, and reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Ja’Marr Chase.

Joe Mixon is also a star from the backfield while C.J. Uzomah has been their emotional leader.

On defense, Trey Hendrickson, Logan Wilson, and Jessie Bates III are looking to be bright spots.

That Taylor will be able to coach these players at the height of their careers makes them a scary team to face.

Damian Lillard hasn’t requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers, yet the rumors about his potential exit haven’t stopped coming.

The Boston Celtics are a team that needs to make some moves this offseason, and some think Lillard could be a great pickup for them.

However, it seems like Lillard isn’t interested in joining them.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Lillard has no interest in playing for the 2022 Eastern Conference champions.

The reasons behind this mindset are unclear but knowing that Lillard wouldn’t join the Miami Heat if they became NBA champions, it’s easy to see why he would also reject the Celtics.

Lillard wants to build something from scratch or join a team that will compete for something.

That’s what he’s trying to do in Portland and what he wants to do if he leaves the Trail Blazers.

This offseason will be crucial for the team, as they can go into rebuilding mode or try to put the right pieces around Lillard.

Lillard has made it clear that he’s trying to win something with his first and only team in the league, but if the situation isn’t right, he’ll try to look for alternatives.

Lillard had 32.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 58 games this season, confirming that he’s still playing at a high level.

The Blazers have a superstar on the roster, but if they can’t maximize Lillard’s talent, he’s better off looking for a new team.
