Who’s Playing

Eastern Illinois @ Albany

Current Records: Eastern Illinois 1-4; Albany 0-5

What to Know

The Albany Great Danes will take on the Eastern Illinois Panthers at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday at McBrayer Arena. Both teams were wiped off the court in their previous games and will be looking to bounce back in a big way.

It looks like the Great Danes got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 86-61 punch to the gut against the Kentucky Wildcats on Monday. Albany was surely aware of their 28-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result.

As for EIU, it looks like they got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They were completely outmatched by the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on the road and fell 82-43.

The Great Danes are now 0-5 while the Panthers sit at 1-4. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Albany is fifth worst in college basketball in points per game, with only 59.6 on average. EIU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the seventh fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 60 on average. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
