3 picks for NFL’s Week 9: Why Rams can cover vs. Titans

Our Predictions and Potential Outcomes for the First Week of November

The LA Rams take the stage on Sunday night, hosting the AFC’s current number one seed at SoFi Stadium on NBC. The 6-2 Tennessee Titans have more wins than any other team in the other conference, but will be without running back Derrick Henry for the remainder of the season after he suffered a broken foot in Week 8.

That’s one reason why the Rams should be able to cover the 7.5-point spread against the Titans in Week 9, odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Tennessee Titans (6-2) @ Los Angeles Rams (7-1)

It feels like forever ago when what has been a wild, surprising, and sad week in the NFL kicked off with the news that running back Derrick Henry will be indefinitely sidelined after surgery to treat a Jones fracture in his foot. While it has yet to be determined whether or not Henry will see the field again in 2021, he will certainly be unavailable for Sunday Night’s matchup against a red-hot Los Angeles Rams team and newly acquired LB Von Miller.

Though this primetime tilt between two potential Super Bowl participants lost some of it’s star power, the Titans still come into Los Angeles boasting enough firepower to make things interesting for the Rams who are currently riding a four game win streak. Current spread Rams by 7.5, we predict a larger margin. Rams by 13.5.

Point spread: Rams -6

Point total: 54.5

New York Jets (2-5) @ Indianapolis Colts (3-5)

After starting the season 0-3, the Indianapolis Colts have won three out of their last five games, with their only two losses coming in overtime to current division leaders. Despite battling early struggles and injuries, quarterback Carson Wentz is enjoying something of a career resurgence having seen an increase in touchdown percentage as well as yards per attempt.

The New York Jets, on the other hand, came into the 2021 season full of promise only to see this first year for head coach Robert Saleh full of struggles of their own. After losing rookie quarterback Zach Wilson to a PCL injury, back-up QB Mike White will be making his second career start against a tough Indianapolis defense looking to rebound from a tough home loss. Most are predicting COlts by two or more scores, we think Gang Green keeps it close, but not close enough. Colts by 3.5.

Point spread: Colts -10.5

Point total: 47

Denver Broncos (4-4) @ Dallas Cowboys (6-1)

After taking last Monday night off to rest his ailing calf, quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to be back on the field, leading the Dallas Cowboys against a visiting Denver Broncos team coming off a big win to snap a four game losing streak.

One, a team with Super Bowl aspirations and a win-loss record to back it up, the other a team with question marks up and down the roster. At first glance, it seems like a less-than-intriguing match-up. However, the Broncos have enough experience under center and talent at skill positions to keep the vaunted Cowboys defense on their toes all day. Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater keeps Denver close initially, but Dallas pulls away during the second half, winning by multiple scores. We predict Cowboys by 14.5.

Point spread: Cowboys -7

Point total: 48.5
