With four major championships already on his résumé, all Rory McIlroy needs to complete a Career Grand Slam is a win at Augusta National Golf Club. He will get another opportunity at the 2022 Masters when play tees off Thursday, April 7. McIlroy has three top-five finishes at the event, but has never been able to stay atop the leaderboard as he prepares for his 14th Masters appearance. McIlroy has the honor of being the only active golfer in the Masters 2022 field who could complete the Grand Slam with a victory.

The Irishman is listed at 12-1 at Caesars Sportsbook in the latest 2022 Masters odds. That trails only World No. 1, Jon Rahm, who is 8-1 on the PGA odds board. Other 2022 Masters favorites include former Masters winners Jordan Spieth (12-1), Dustin Johnson (14-1) and Hideki Matsuyama (25-1). Model’s top 2022 Masters predictions 

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2022 Masters: Rory McIlroy, a 20-time PGA Tour champion and one of the top favorites, stumbles at Augusta and finishes outside the top 10. The 32-year-old finished on top of the leaderboard at the CJ Cup earlier this season, his 20th PGA Tour victory. 

McIlroy is a four-time major champion and can complete the career grand slam with a victory at Augusta National. However, he has been unable to grasp the coveted green jacket despite being in the mix on numerous occasions. McIlroy has finished in the top 10 in six of his last eight starts at Augusta, but the pressure of winning the green jacket seems to be weighing on him. He’s finished 21st or worse in two of his last three starts at Augusta, which includes a missed cut in 2021. He’s not a strong pick to win it all, and there are far better values in the Masters Tournament 2022 field.

Another surprise: Will Zalatoris, a 35-1 long shot, makes a strong run at the title. He’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Zalatoris was named 2021 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in part due to his performance at last year’s Masters Tournament. In his first appearance at Augusta National, Zalatoris shot nine-under-par to finish runner-up to Matsuyama. He was consistent and competitive throughout, placing fourth or better on the Masters leaderboard after every round.

Zalatoris ranked seventh on the PGA Tour in strokes gained approaching the green last season and tops the tour this year. He has the unique combination of power off the tee and precision in the short game, as he ranks 19th in driving distance and 10th in greens in regulation percentage. That type of well-rounded game is needed at Augusta National, where Zalatoris proved last season he can compete with anyone on tour.
